He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 And what should teach thee? Perchance he would cleanse him, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attend to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 As for the one who comes to you earnestly (striving for guidance). 8 And hath fear, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 upon pages high-honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Yet man declines to do His bidding. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 The day on which a man shall fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
