The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 abasing [some,] exalting [others]! 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains shall be made to crumble with (an awful) crumbling, 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 Then (as to) the companions of the right hand; how happy are the companions of the right hand! 8 And there shall be such as will have lost themselves in evil: oh, how [unhappy] will be they who have lost themselves in evil! 9 The foremost ones (in faith and virtue) - the foremost ones in receiving their reward. 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of people from those of old, 13 but [only] a few of later times. 14 On studded thrones. 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 Whereby there shall be neither headiness nor will they be inebriated. 19 And with fruits, any that they may select: 20 and the meat of any bird that they may desire; 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for all that they did. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And banana-trees (with fruits), one above another. 29 and amid the extended shade 30 and outpoured waters, 31 and fruit abounding, 32 never-ending and unforbidden. 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 And made them virginal, 36 intensely loving and of matching age. 37 All this will be for the People on the Right; 38
