Dawn (Al-Fajr)
30 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Night (Al-Layl) before The Forenoon (Al-Duhaa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
By the dawn 1 and the ten nights! 2 The multiple and the one, 3 And the night when it departs. 4 is there not in this strong evidence for a man of sense? 5 Hast thou not seen how thy Lord did with Ad, 6 (The people of) Aram, possessors of lofty buildings, 7 the like of whom has never been reared in all the land? 8 And (with) Thamud (people), who cut (hewed) out rocks in the valley (to make dwellings)? 9 And with Pharaoh, firm of might, 10 (All) these transgressed beyond bounds in the lands, 11 and exceeded in corruption therein. 12 and therefore thy Sustainer let loose upon them a scourge of suffering: 13 Most surely your Lord is watching. 14 As for man, whenever his Lord trieth him by honouring him, and is gracious unto him, he saith: My Lord honoureth me. 15 But when He tries him, by straitening his means of life, he says: "My Lord has humiliated me!" 16 No! But you show no good to the orphan, 17 nor do you urge one another to feed the needy. 18 and you greedily devour the inheritance of the weak, 19 and you ardently love wealth. 20 Nay! When the earth is ground to powder, 21 And your Lord comes with the angels in rows, 22 and Gehenna is brought out, upon that day man will remember; and how shall the Reminder be for him? 23 He will say: "Alas the woe! Would that I had sent ahead something in my life." 24 For, that Day, His Chastisement will be such as none (else) can inflict, 25 And none will bind as He will bind. 26 [But unto the righteous God will say,] "O thou human being that hast attained to inner peace! 27 "Come back to your Lord, Well-pleased (yourself) and well-pleasing unto Him! 28 Join My worshipers and 29 And enter thou My Garden. 30

قراءة القرآن مترجماً إلى الإنجليزية أو أية لغة أخرى أشبه بقراءة كتب التفسير من قراءة ترجمات حرفية.
Reading the Quran translated into English, or any other language, is more like reading books of interpretation than reading literal translations.
