The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event takes place, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken violently, 4 and the mountains crumbled, 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye are classes three. 7 Those of the right hand -- how (happy) will be those of the right hand! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 a host of the ancients 13 and a lesser number from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 reclining on them, arrayed face to face; 16 Youths of never-ending bloom will pass round to them 17 with goblets, jugs and cups of crystal clear wine 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 and such fruits as they shall choose, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 and there shall be wide-eyed maidens, 22 like hidden pearls, 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 They will not hear therein any vain or sinful talk, 25 All talk will be sound and upright. 26 The Companions of the Right (O Companions of the Right!) 27 They will live amid the thornless lot trees 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 and continuous shade, 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And fruits numberless, 32 Unending, unforbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 We have created (their Companions) of special creation. 35 So made them as maidens. 36 The beloved of their husbands, of one age. 37 For those on the Right Hand. 38
