The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
O YOU ENFOLDED in your mantle (of reform), 1 stand up, deliver your warning, 2 And your Lord (Allah) magnify! 3 And keep your clothes clean. 4 And pollution shun. 5 Do not give, thinking to gain greater 6 Exercise patience to please your Lord. 7 And when the trumpet is blown, 8 Surely that day will be a day of anguish, 9 For the unbelievers, anything but easy. 10 Leave Me alone with he whom I created 11 and appointed for him ample wealth 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 And I adjusted affairs for him adjustably; 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 Never will he receive more. He has been hostile to Our revelations. 16 I shall force him to endure a painful uphill climb! 17 Indeed he thought, and inwardly decided. 18 death seized him, how was his determining! 19 And once more let him be cursed, how he plotted! 20 Then he looked around, 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 then he retreated and waxed proud, 23 And said, "This is not but magic imitated [from others]. 24 "This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will drive him into Saqar. 26 - Ah, what will convey unto thee what that burning is! - 27 It does not allow anyone to live, and neither does it leave anyone to die; 28 it scorches (even) the skin. 29 Over it are nineteen [angels]. 30 We have appointed none but angels to guard the Fire, and made their number only as a trial for the unbelievers, so that those to whom the Book was given are certain and those who believe increase in belief. And that those who were given the Book, and those who believe will not be in doubt. And that those in whose hearts there is a sickness, together with the unbelievers, may say: 'What did Allah intend by this as an example' As such, Allah leaves in error whom He will and He guides whomsoever He will. None knows the hosts of your Lord except He. This is no more than a Reminder to humans. 31
