The News (Al-Naba')
40 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej) before The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 Is it about the awesome tiding 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 The night a covering, 10 And We made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens thick with trees. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 Where they will remain for aeons, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed they had no fear of the account. 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of your deeds). We shall only increase your torment. 30

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
