He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 Yet for all thou didst know, [O Muhammad,] he might perhaps have grown in purity, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to a rich man, 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Assuredly this is a reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and purified. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Out of a drop of sperm He creates him, and thereupon determines his nature, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 and dense orchards, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and from his spouse and his children: 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
