The Comet (Al-Taareq)
17 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Town (Al-Balad) before The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and al-tariq. 1 And have you understood what the nightly arriver is? 2 The star of piercing brightness; 3 There is no soul but has a protector over it. 4 Let man consider what he was made of: 5 He was created from spurting fluid, 6 Issuing from (the pelvis) between the backbone and the ribs. 7 Surely, He is Able to bring him back, 8 The Day that (all) things secret will be tested, 9 (Man) will have no power, and no helper. 10 By oath of the sky from which comes down the rain. 11 And the earth which splits (with the growth of trees and plants), 12 It is surely a decisive utterance; 13 And it is not a frivolity. 14 Indeed, they are planning a plan, 15 and I am devising guile. 16 Therefore respite the unbelievers, and delay them for a while. 17
