Al-Hijjr 3 of 6
Man We fashioned from fermented clay dried tingling hard, 26 And the jinn, We had created them afore of the fire of the scroching wind. 27 Behold! thy Lord said to the angels: "I am about to create man, from sounding clay from mud moulded into shape; 28 "When I have fashioned him (in due proportion) and breathed into him of My spirit, fall ye down in obeisance unto him." 29 The angels bowed in homage in a body 30 But Iblis (did it not); he refused to be with those who made obeisance. 31 God asked him, "What is the matter with you, that you are not among those who have prostrated themselves?" 32 He said: I am not one to prostrate myself unto a mortal whom Thou hast created out of potter's clay of black mud altered! 33 "Go hence, execrable," (said the Lord), "from this place, 34 And indeed, upon you is the curse until the Day of Recompense." 35 Said [Iblis]: "Then, O my Sustainer, grant me a respite till the Day when all shall be raised from the dead!" 36 Allah said: "For sure you are granted respite 37 Until the Day of the time well-known." 38 Iblis said, "Lord, because you have caused me to go astray, I shall make earthly things attractive to (people) and mislead all of them 39 excepting those Thy servants among them that are devoted. 40 Said He, 'This is for Me a straight path: 41 "For over My servants no authority shalt thou have, except such as put themselves in the wrong and follow thee." 42 And verily, Hell is the promised abode for them all! 43 It has seven gates; for each gate is a portion assigned from them. 44

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
