۞ Gather all the wicked together and their comrades, and those they had worshipped 22 besides God, and lead them to the path of the Fire; 23 And stop them, for they shall be questioned: 24 "How is it that [now] you cannot succour one another?" 25 They will submit to questioning then, 26 And some of them inclined towards others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was ye who used to come to us from the right hand (of power and authority)!" 28 But they reply: 'Rather, you were not believers. 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 So on us hath been justified the sentence of our Lord: verily we are to taste. 31 We seduced you astray; verily we were ourselves the seduced ones. 32 So they shall on that day be sharers in the chastisement one with another. 33 Even so We do with the sinners; 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And were saying, "Are we to leave our gods for a mad poet?" 36 (They say so although) he brought the Truth and confirmed the veracity of the Messengers. 37 Ye shall indeed taste of the Grievous Penalty;- 38 And ye shall be required not except for that which ye have been doing; 39 But the chosen servants of God; 40 [in the hereafter,] theirs shall be a sustenance which they will recognize 41 as the fruits [of their life on earth]; and honoured shall they be 42 In gardens of pleasure, 43 seated on couches, facing one another. 44 a cup from a spring being passed round to them, 45 white, sparkling (wine), a delight to the drinkers. 46 causing no headiness or intoxication. 47 With them will be spouses, modest of gaze and beautiful of eye, 48 As though they were eggs hidden. 49 So one among them turns to the other, questioning. – 50 And a speaker from among them will say: verily there was unto me a mate. 51 "Who used to say, 'what! art thou amongst those who bear witness to the Truth (of the Message)? 52 When we are dead and have become dust and bones, are we indeed going to be requited? 53 He said (to others on the thrones), “Will you take a glimpse (into hell) below?” 54 And he will look and see him in the midst of the Hellfire. 55 He said: "By Allah! thou wast little short of bringing me to perdition! 56 “And were it not for the munificence of my Lord, I too would have been seized and brought forth (captive)!” 57 Is it then that we are not going to die, 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Verily this! that is the supreme achievement. 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this better as an entertainment or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily We! We have made it a temptation for the wrong-doers. 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 its spathes are as the heads of Satans, 65 So indeed they will eat from it, and fill their bellies with it. 66 And thereafter verily they shall have thereon a draught of boiling water. 67 Then thereafter, verily, their return is to the flaming fire of Hell. 68 Verily they found their fathers gone astray. 69 and they are running in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly many of the ancients went astray before them, 71 And certainly We sent among them warners. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 Except the chosen bondmen of Allah. 74
