Then a man endowed with faith, from Pharaoh's folk, who had kept his faith hidden, said: “Do you kill a person simply because he says: 'My Lord is Allah' even though he brought to you clear Signs from your Lord? If he is a liar, his lying will recoil upon him; but if he is truthful, you will be smitten with some of the awesome consequences of which he warns you. Allah does not guide to the Right Way any who exceeds the limits and is an utter liar. 28 "O my people! Yours is the dominion today, [and] most eminent are you on earth: but who will rescue us from God's punishment, once it befalls us?" Said Pharaoh: "I but want to make you see what I see myself; and I would never make you follow any path but that of rectitude!" 29 But the man of belief said: "O my people, what I fear for you is the like of what befell the communities (of old). 30 "Like the fate of the people of Nuh (Noah), and 'Ad, and Thamud and those who came after them. And Allah wills no injustice for (His) slaves. 31 O my people, what I fear for you is the day of gathering, crying and calling, 32 the Day when you will turn in retreat with none to protect you from Allah. He whom Allah leads astray has no guide. 33 Before this, Joseph brought you clear signs, but you continued to be doubtful of that which he brought. When he passed away you said: "Allah will never send another Messenger after him." As such Allah leads astray the sinner, the doubter. 34 Those who wrangle concerning the signs of Allah without any authority that hath come unto them. It is greatly abhorrent unto Allah and unto those who believe. Thus Allah sealeth up the heart of any stiff-necked, high-handed, person. 35 And said Firaun, “O Haman! Build a high palace for me, in order that I may reach the routes.” – 36 Of reaching the tracts of heaven and look at the god of Moses, though I think that he is a liar." Thus were the evil deeds of Pharaoh made to look attractive to him, and he was hindered from the path. So the stratagem of Pharaoh was bound to perish. 37
