The Human (Al-Insan)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Verily We created Man from a drop of mingled sperm, in order to try him: So We gave him (the gifts), of Hearing and Sight. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 For the Rejecters we have prepared chains, yokes, and a blazing Fire. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 A spring wherefrom the slaves of Allah drink, making it gush forth abundantly, 6 The servants of God fulfill their vows and are afraid of the day in which there will be widespread terror. 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 Saying: we feed you only for the sake of Allah; we desire not from you any recompense or thanks. 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 So Allah will save them from the evil of that Day and has secured for them radiance and joyfulness, 11 And reward them, because they were patient, with garden and silk, 12 There they will recline on elevated couches and will be subjected neither to the burning heat of the sun nor to bitter cold. 13 And the shade thereof is close upon them, and the bunches of fruit thereof will hang low within their reach. 14 and passed around them shall be silver vessels, and crystal goblets, 15 goblets of silver that they have precisely measured. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 [derived from] a source [to be found] therein, whose name is "Seek Thy Way". 18 ۞ And there shall go round unto them youths ever-young. When thou seest them thou wouldst deem them pearls unstrung. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Upon them shall be garments of fine green silk and thick silk interwoven with gold, and they shall be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord shall make them drink a pure drink. 21 (And it will be said to them): "Verily, this is a reward for you, and your endeavour has been accepted." 22
