He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 How could you know? Perhaps he would cleanse himself, 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 but as for him who came unto thee full of eagerness 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you pay him no heed. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 For any one who desires to bear it in mind, 12 in [the light of His] revelations blest with dignity, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then causeth him to die, and burieth him; 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 as provision for you and for your cattle to enjoy. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Every man of them shall on that day have an affair which will occupy him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
