He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 for how can you know that he might seek to purify himself, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fears (Allah), 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 On honoured leaves 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then He makes the Path easy for him; 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when He willed, He brought him out. (As during the night of Holy Prophet’s ascension, when all the Prophets gathered behind him in the Al Aqsa mosque in Jerusalem. Or when Allah will raise everyone on the Day of Resurrection.) 22 Not one he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 How We poured down water in torrents, 25 Then We cracked the earth open under pressure (of germination) 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 But, when the Blast comes, 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
End of Surah: He Frowned ('Abasa). Sent down in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
