The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and casts out what is within it and is emptied, 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then as to him who is given his book in his right hand, 7 He will be judged with an easy account 8 And he will turn to his people, rejoicing! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 Will pray for death, 11 And [enter to] burn in a Blaze. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! surely his Lord does ever see him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon when it grows full, 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 In fact the disbelievers keep denying. 22 Yet God has full knowledge of what they conceal [in their hearts]. 23 Hence, give them the tiding of grievous suffering [in the life to come] 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
