The Believers (Al-Mu' minoon)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Prosperous are the believers 1 Those who humble themselves in their prayers; 2 and from idle talk turn away 3 who give charity, 4 and guard their private parts 5 [not giving way to their desires] with any but their spouses - that is, those whom they rightfully possess [through wedlock]: for then, behold, they are free of all blame, 6 But whoever seeks beyond that, then those are the transgressors; 7 And those who are keepers of their trusts and their covenant, 8 to their promise, 9 These will be the heirs, 10 that shall inherit Paradise; and in it they shall abide for ever. 11 And certainly We created man of an extract of clay, 12 Thereafter We made him of a sperm in a receptacle safe. 13 Thereafter We created the sperm a clot; then We created the clot a lump of flesh; then We created the lump of flesh bones; then We clothed the bones with flesh: thereafter We brought him forth as another creature. Blest then be Allah, the Best of creators! 14 After that, at length ye will die 15 and then, behold! you shall be raised from the dead on Resurrection Day. 16 And assuredly We created above you seven paths, and of the creation We have not been neglectful. 17 We send down water from the sky in determined measure, and store it up in the earth; and We have power to drain it away. 18 With it, We produced for you gardens of palms and vines, yielding abundant fruit for you to eat. 19 as well as a tree that issues from [the lands adjoining] Mount Sinai, yielding oil and relish for all to eat. 20 And surely in the cattle there is a lesson for you; We give you to drink of what is in their bellies, and many uses there are in them for you, and of them you eat; 21 and by them - as by the ships [over the sea] - you are borne [overland]. 22
