Hizb 46
< random >
And lo! Jonah verily was of those sent (to warn) 139 When he ran to the laden ship, 140 And he drew lots and was among the losers. 141 Then he was swallowed by a large fish as he was worthy of blame. 142 Had he not been one of those who acknowledge the glory of God, 143 he would have tarried in its belly until the day they shall be raised; 144 ۞ So We cast him, sick, on a barren shore, 145 And We caused to grow, over him, a spreading plant of the gourd kind. 146 And [then] We sent him [once again] to [his people,] a hundred thousand [souls] or more: 147 And they believed, so We gave them enjoyment [of life] for a time. 148 Now ask them (O Muhammad): Hath thy Lord daughters whereas they have sons? 149 Or did We create the angels females, while they were witnesses? 150 Is it not of their own calumny that they say, 151 'God has begotten?' They are truly liars. 152 Has He (then) chosen daughters rather than sons? 153 What is the matter with you? How do you judge? 154 Will ye not then reflect? 155 “Or do you have some clear proof?” 156 “Then bring forth your Book, if you are truthful!” 157 And they have made between Him and the jinn a kinship whereas the jinn assuredly know that they are to be brought up 158 God is too glorious to be described as they describe Him 159 except for God's sincere servants. 160 But as for you, and that you serve, 161 you shall tempt none against Him 162 except him who shall roast in the Blazing Fire. 163 There is not one of us (angels) but has his known place (or position); 164 and, verily, we too are ranged [before Him in worship]; 165 we are they that give glory. 166 And they surely were wont to say: 167 "If we had had with us a Book like that of the people of old, 168 We would be single-minded slaves of Allah. 169 And yet, [now that this divine writ has been placed before them,] they refuse to acknowledge it as true! In time, however, they will come to know [what it was that they had rejected]: 170 Our word had already been given before to Our votaries, the apostles, -- 171 [That] indeed, they would be those given victory 172 and that it is Our host that would certainly triumph. 173 (Muhammad), stay away from them for a while 174 And watch them (how they fare), and they soon shall see (how thou farest)! 175 What! would they then hasten on Our chastisement? 176 But when it cometh home to them, then it will be a hapless morn for those who have been warned. 177 So turn away from them for a time 178 And watch, for they will (soon) see. 179 Glorified be thy Lord, the Lord of Majesty, from that which they attribute (unto Him) 180 And peace be on the apostles. 181 And Praise to Allah, the Lord and Cherisher of the Worlds. 182
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
End of Surah: The Arrangers (Al-Saaffaat). Sent down in Mecca after Animals (Al-An 'aam) before Luqmaan (Luqmaan)
