The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen)
36 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Spider (Al-Ankaboot) before The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
WOE TO THOSE who give short measure, 1 who demand of other people full measure for themselves, 2 And when they have to give by measure or weight to men, give less than due. 3 Do they not think that they will be resurrected 4 On a Mighty Day, 5 the Day when all men shall stand before the Sustainer of all the worlds? 6 No! Indeed, the record of the wicked is in sijjeen. 7 And what do you know, how (wretched) the Sijjeen is! 8 (It is) a marked Book. 9 Woe, that Day, to those that deny- 10 those who give the lie to the [coming of] Judgment Day: 11 And none can deny it except every transgressor beyond bounds, (in disbelief, oppression and disobedience of Allah, the sinner!) 12 who, when listening to Our revelations, say, "These are only ancient legends". 13 No! Their own deeds have cast a veil over their hearts. 14 No! Indeed, from their Lord, that Day, they will be partitioned. 15 then they shall enter the Fire of Hell, 16 Further, it will be said to them: "This is the (reality) which ye rejected as false! 17 NAY, VERILY - the record of the truly virtuous is [set down] in a mode most lofty! 18 But how will you comprehend what 'Illiyun is? 19 A written record, 20 Witnessed by those who are honoured. 21 Verily the virtuous shall be in Delight, 22 (reclining) upon couches they will gaze, 23 Thou wilt recognize in their faces the brightness of delight. 24 They will be served the choicest wine, sealed 25 Whose seal is musk - for this let (all) those strive who strive for bliss - 26 With the wine is a drink from Tasnim, 27 a source [of bliss] whereof those who are drawn close unto God shall drink. 28 Surely they who are guilty used to laugh at those who believe. 29 And winked at one another as they passed by them; 30 When they returned to their people they returned jesting; 31 And when they saw them, they said: Most surely these are in error; 32 No one has appointed them to watch over the believers. 33 So today those who believe shall laugh at the unbelievers; 34 Reclining on couches, looking on. 35 "Are these deniers of the truth being [thus] requited for [aught but] what they were wont to do?" 36
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
