And rehearse to them (something of) Abraham's story. 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: hearken they unto you when ye cry? 72 Do they help or harm you?" 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 Abraham said, "Have you really thought about what you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 and Himself gives me to eat and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 Who will cause me to die and then will again restore me to life; 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 Lord, grant me authority. Join me to the righteous ones. 83 “And give me proper fame among the succeeding generations.” 84 "Make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Bliss; 85 And forgive my father. Lo! he is of those who err. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 “Except he who presented himself before Allah, with a sound* heart.” (Intact or unblemished.) 89 (On that Day) the Garden will be brought near to the God-fearing, 90 and Hell advanced for the perverse. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 beside Allah? Can they be of any help to you, or even be of any help to themselves?" 93 Then they will be thrown headlong into Hell, both they and the misguided ones, 94 And the whole hosts of Iblis (Satan) together. 95 They will say while contending therein, 96 By Allah, we were truly in a manifest error, 97 In equating you with the Lord of all the worlds; 98 And no one misguided us except the criminals. 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 nor do we have a truly sincere friend. 101 (Alas!) If we only had a chance to return (to the world), we shall truly be among the believers! 102 In all this, behold, there is a message [unto men,] even though most of them will not believe [in it]. 103 And verily, your Lord! He is truly the All-Mighty, the Most Merciful. 104
