The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is folded up, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was put to death; 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it departs; 17 The rising dawn, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Mighty, established in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 [the word] of one to be heeded, and worthy of trust! 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And the Qur’an is not the recitation of Satan the outcast. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
