The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky has split [open] 1 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And it unburdens itself of all that is in it, and becomes empty. 4 And attentive to her Lord in fear! 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 Then he who is given his Record in his right hand, 7 shall have an easy reckoning 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But he who is given the Record behind his back, 10 He shall call for perdition, 11 But will be roasted in the fire. 12 Verily he was among his people joyous. 13 He assumed that he does not have to return. 14 Yes indeed, his Lord was ever watching him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And the night and that which it drives on, 17 And the Moon in her fullness: 18 [That] you will surely experience state after state. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate [to Allah]? ۩ 21 Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). 22 but God knows best whatever they accumulate in their hearts. 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
