The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When heaven is rent asunder 1 and hearkens to the command of its Lord, doing what it should; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 And has cast out that within it and relinquished [it] 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O mankind, indeed you are laboring toward your Lord with [great] exertion and will meet it. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 He shall be reckoned with by an easy reckoning, 8 and he shall return to his people, joyfully, 9 But as for him whose record shall be given to him behind his back; 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He lived rejoicing among his people, 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yes indeed; his Lord had sight of him. 15 No! I swear by the twilight 16 and by the night and what it enfolds, 17 and the moon, as it grows to its fullness: 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So, what is the matter with them that they do not believe, 20 and when the Koran is recited to them they do not bow? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 And Allah well knows what they conceal in their hearts. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Save those who believe and do good works, for theirs is a reward unfailing. 25
