The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 the mountains are scattered about as dust, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 the wild beasts are herded together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it hath made ready. 14 Rather, I swear by the returning 15 that hide, 16 And the night when it departs, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Owner of power, and high rank with (Allah) the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 (O people of Makkah), your companion is not mad; 22 he indeed saw the message-bearer on the clear horizon; 23 And he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) withholds not a knowledge of the unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Where then will you go? 26 This is naught else than a reminder unto creation, 27 to every one of you who wishes to tread the straight path. 28 Though you cannot desire except as God will, the Lord of all the worlds. 29
