The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By those [angels] who extract with violence 1 and move [in their orbits] with steady motion, 2 And by those who float in space, 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 And there will follow it the next blast. 7 Many a heart will flutter on that day! 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: "Shall we indeed be returned to (our) former state of life? 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: that then shall be a losing return. 12 But verily, it will be but a single (Compelling) Cry, 13 and behold, they are awakened. 14 Has the story of Moses reached thee? 15 When his Lord called to him in Tuwa's holy vale? 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 And say to him, 'Would you [be willing to] purify yourself 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
