The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 when the mountains shall be set moving, 3 And when the camels big with young are abandoned, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 When the souls are sorted out, (being joined, like with like); 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what crime she was killed; 9 When the ledgers are laid open, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 when Hell shall be set blazing, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 then shall a soul know what it has produced. 14 I do not need to swear by the orbiting 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 by the night swarming, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 Verily, this is the Word (this Quran brought by) a most honourable messenger [Jibrael (Gabriel), from Allah to the Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him)]. 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 And he is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Whither then will you go? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And you do not please except that Allah please, the Lord of the worlds. 29
