He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 to a rich man, 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let him who pleases mind it. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and obedient. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what has God created him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and covered by darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
