HAST THOU, then, ever considered him who turns away [from remembering Us, and cares for no more than the life of this world,] 33 And gives a little and (then) withholds. 34 Has he the knowledge of the unseen so that he can see? 35 Did not the news reach him, of that which is mentioned in the Books of Moosa? 36 And (of) Ibrahim who fulfilled (the commandments): 37 That no one who carries a burden bears another's load; 38 and that a man shall have to his account only as he has laboured, 39 and that (the result of) his striving shall soon be seen, 40 and that he shall then be fully recompensed, 41 And that the end is only towards your Lord? 42 and that it is He alone who causes [you] to laugh and to weep; 43 And that it is He (Allah) Who causes death and gives life; 44 That He created pairs, male and female, 45 From the small seed when it is adapted 46 That the second creation is incumbent on Him; 47 And that it is He Who has given wealth and contentment? 48 and that it is He who is the Lord of Sirius, 49 And that He destroyed the former (tribe of) A'ad, 50 And Thamud, and did not leave them, 51 and before them the nation of Noah, they exceeded in evil and were insolent. 52 And the overturned towns He hurled down 53 So that (ruins unknown) have covered them up. 54 Then which of the gifts of thy Lord, (O man,) wilt thou dispute about? 55 He (Prophet Mohammed peace and blessings be upon him) is a Herald of Warning, like the former Heralds of Warning. 56 There hath approached the approaching Hour. 57 None besides Allah can avert it, (or advance it, or delay it). 58 Does this statement seem strange to them 59 Why do you laugh rather than weep? 60 Will you occupy yourselves simply in merriment? 61 But fall ye down in prostration to Allah, and adore (Him)! ۩ 62
True are the words of Allah the Almighty.
