He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 For him who does not care, 5 to him thou attendest 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and fearfully, 9 you ignore him. 10 Nay! surely it is an admonishment. 11 So whoever wishes may remember it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 And cause the grain to grow therein 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 And olive-trees and palm-trees 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 So when the deafening Shout arrives, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 and from his mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
