The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 When the earth is stretched out taut 3 And casts forth what is in it and becomes empty, 4 and obeys its Lord as it must, 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, 7 will be easy, 8 and shall return to his people joyfully. 9 but as for him whose record shall be given to him from behind his back, 10 He will cry out for destruction 11 And enter into burning fire. 12 Surely he was (erstwhile) joyful among his followers. 13 Verily he imagined that he would not be back. 14 Nay, nay! for his Lord was (ever) watchful of him! 15 BUT NAY! I call to witness the sunset's [fleeting] afterglow, 16 and the night and what it envelops 17 And the moon when it grows full, 18 [even thus, O men,] are you bound to move; onward from stage to stage. 19 So what is [the matter] with them [that] they do not believe, 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 Allah knows best what they are accumulating (in their Record). 23 Therefore give to them glad tidings of a painful punishment, 24 But for those who believe and do good works; for them there shall be a never-ending reward. 25
