The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ When the Event will come to pass 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Abasing exalting. 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 So that they shall be as scattered dust. 6 And ye shall be sorted out into three classes. 7 Companions of the Right, what are the Companions of the Right? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 and the Outstrippers: the Outstrippers 10 Those are the ones brought near [to Allah] 11 in the Gardens of Delight, 12 (a throng of the ancients 13 And a few of later ages, 14 On thrones decorated, 15 Reclining on them, facing one another. 16 Round about them shall go youths never altering in age, 17 Carrying bowls and pitchers – and cups filled with wine flowing before them. 18 (no brows throbbing, no intoxication) 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire to eat; 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 beautiful as pearls hidden in their shells. 23 A reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any useless speech in it, or any sin. 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 As for those of the right hand -- how (happy) those of the right hand -- 27 Among thornless lote-trees 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 In shade long-extended, 30 And water gushing, 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 and raised couches 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 We have made them virgins, 36 Loving, equals in age, 37 For those of the right hand. 38
