Indeed this is a revelation from the Lord of the Universe; 192 which the truthful spirit has carried down 193 Upon your heart, for you to convey warning. 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And verily it is in the Scriptures of the ancients. 196 And was this not a sign for them, that the scholars of the Descendants of Israel may recognise this Prophet? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had read it unto them, even then they would not have been believers therein. 199 Thus do We cause (unbelief) to enter the hearts of sinners. 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 And it shall come to them all of a sudden, while they shall not perceive; 202 and then they will exclaim, "Could we have a respite?" 203 So do they wish to hasten Our punishment? 204 But hast thou ever considered [this]: If We do allow them to enjoy [this life] for some years, 205 And then what they were promised comes upon them, 206 of what avail will be the provisions of life which they have been granted to enjoy? 207 Never have We destroyed a habitation till We had sent admonishers to them 208 and reminded: for, never do We wrong [anyone]. 209 No evil ones have brought down this (Revelation): 210 Neither would it suit them, nor they can (produce it). 211 Indeed they have been removed far from even (a chance of) hearing it. 212 (Muhammad), do not worship anything besides God lest you suffer the punishment. 213 Warn your close relatives 214 And lower thy wing to the Believers who follow thee. 215 But if they disobey you, then say: Surely I am clear of what you do. 216 and place thy trust in the Almighty, the Dispenser of Grace, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and [sees] thy behaviour among those who prostrate themselves [before Him]: 219 Surely, He is the Hearer, the Knower. 220 Should I tell you to whom the satans come? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 Who gives ear (to the devils and they pour what they may have heard of the unseen from the angels), and most of them are liars. 223 As for the poets, the erring follow them, 224 Have you not seen how they wander in every valley, 225 And that they say that which they do not do, 226 except those who believed and acted righteously and remembered Allah much, and when they themselves were subjected to wrong, they exacted retribution no more than to the extent of the wrong? Soon will the wrong-doers know the end that they shall reach. 227
