So, when the envoys came to the folk of Lot, 61 he said: "Surely you are an unknown folk." 62 They said, “In fact we have brought to you the matter which these people doubted.” 63 And bring thee the Truth, and lo! we are truth-tellers. 64 So set out with your family during a portion of the night and follow behind them and let not anyone among you look back and continue on to where you are commanded." 65 And We made plain the case to him, that the root of them (who did wrong) was to be cut at early morn. 66 The people of the town rejoicingly 67 He said: "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 "And do not disgrace me. Have some fear of God." 69 They replied, "Did we not forbid you to bring anyone to your house?" 70 He said: These are my daughters, if you will do (aught). 71 By your life, they wandered blindly in their dazzlement. 72 So the shriek seized them at sunrise. 73 and We turned those [sinful towns] upside down, and rained down upon them stone-hard blows of chastisement pre-ordained. 74 Herein are really signs for those who discern. 75 That town lies on a road which still exists. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 Certainly the dwellers in the Thicket were evildoers, 78 So We took retribution from them, and indeed, both [cities] are on a clear highway. 79
