The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What do they quarrel about? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep a rest. 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and We appointed day for a livelihood. 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 and gardens luxuriant. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 Living therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 save boiling water and a stinking fluid -- 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 Indeed, they did not hope for a Reckoning, 27 And they denied Our signs to the extreme. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
