The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sunlight is rolled up. 1 And when the stars shall fall; 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels are neglected, 4 And when wild animals are herded together. 5 And when the seas shall be filled, 6 souls are reunited with their bodies, 7 And when the girl buried alive shall be asked: 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the Records of Account are laid bare. 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 No indeed; I swear by the alternating stars 15 Who move straight and stop. 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not [at all] mad. 22 he truly saw him on the clear horizon; 23 He is not chary of making public what is unknown. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 Whither, then, will you go? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 And what will you wish, except if Allah wills – the Lord of the Creation. 29
