Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Hast thou received the story of the Enveloper? 1 Some faces, that Day, will be humiliated (in the Hell-fire, i.e. the faces of all disbelievers, Jews and Christians, etc.). 2 Toiling, weary, 3 about to enter a glowing fire, 4 The while they are given, to drink, of a boiling hot spring, 5 They will have no food other than bitter and thorny fruit 6 which will neither fatten them nor satisfy them. 7 Faces on that day jocund, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a high Garden. 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 A gushing fountain shall be there 12 and raised couches, 13 and goblets placed ready, 14 And cushions set in rows, 15 And carpets spread around. 16 Then do they not look at the camels - how they are created? 17 And at the sky, how it is raised aloft? 18 And at the mountains, how they are rooted and fixed firm? 19 And at the earth, how it is outspread? 20 Admonish thou then; thou art but an admonisher. 21 You are not a dictator over them. 22 But he who turns his back, and disbelieves, 23 So Allah will mete out to him the greatest punishment. 24 Certainly, it is to Us that they will return. 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
