The Comet (Al-Taareq)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heavens and that which comes in the night -- 1 What could let you know what the nightly comer is! 2 (It is) the piercing star. 3 There is no human being but has a protector over him (or her) (i.e. angels incharge of each human being guarding him, writing his good and bad deeds, etc.) 4 Let man reflect on what he was created from. 5 He was created of a gushing fluid, 6 issuing from between the loins [of man] and the pelvic arch [of woman]. 7 Most surely He is able to return him (to life). 8 on the Day when consciences are examined, 9 he shall have no power, and no helper. 10 By the Firmament which returns (in its round), 11 and by the earth bursting with vegetation; 12 Most surely it is a decisive word, 13 And it is not a thing for amusement. 14 Behold, they [who refuse to accept it] devise many a false argument [to disprove its truth]; 15 And I (too) am planning a plan. 16 so bear with those who deny the truth, and let them be for a little while. 17
