The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the Occurrence occurs, 1 There is about its happening no lie. 2 (it will) abase (some) and exalt (others). 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains are broken down, crumbling 5 Turned to dust, floating in the air, 6 And ye are classes three. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 And the foremost are the foremost, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 In the Gardens of delight (Paradise). 12 A number of the earlier peoples, 13 and only a few of them from the later generations. 14 They will recline on jewelled couches 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 by which their minds will not be clouded and which will not make them drunk; 19 Also, they will be served with the fruits of their choice 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And gorgeous eyed fair maidens. 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 Therein they hear no vain or sinful discourse. 25 only the words of peace and tranquillity. 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They will be] among lote trees with thorns removed 28 Bananatrees, piled 29 And a shade ever-spread. 30 By water flowing constantly, 31 And abundant fruit, 32 Neither limited [to season] nor forbidden, 33 They shall be on upraised couches, 34 for, behold, We shall have brought them into being in a life renewed, 35 And made them virgin - pure (and undefiled), - 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the sake of the companions of the right hand. 38
