Stories (Al-Qasas)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Ta'. Sin. Mim 1 Those are the signs of the Manifest Book. 2 We narrate unto thee (somewhat) of the story of Moses and Pharaoh with truth, for folk who believe. 3 The Pharaoh had become high and mighty in the land, and divided the people into different classes, and impoverished one class, slaying its males and sparing its women, for he was indeed a tyrant. 4 And We wanted to confer favor upon those who were oppressed in the land and make them leaders and make them inheritors 5 and to establish them in the land, and to show Pharaoh and Ha man, and their hosts, what they were dreading from them. 6 We inspired Moses' mother saying, "Suckle him, and then, when you fear for him, cast him into the river, and have no fear and do not grieve, for We shall return him to you, and shall make him one of the Messengers." 7 So then the folk of Pharaoh picked him out to be an enemy and a sorrow to them; certainly Pharaoh and Haman, and their hosts, were of the sinners. 8 And Firon's wife said: A refreshment of the eye to me and to you; do not slay him; maybe he will be useful to us, or we may take him for a son; and they did not perceive. 9 The heart of Moses' mother was relieved and confident. But she would almost have made the whole matter public had We not strengthened her heart with faith. 10 And she said unto his sister: Trace him. So she observed him from afar, and they perceived not. 11 ۞ And We had prevented from him [all] wet nurses before, so she said, "Shall I direct you to a household that will be responsible for him for you while they are to him [for his upbringing] sincere?" 12 So did We restore him to his mother, that she might be delighted, and that she might not grieve, and that she might know that the Promise of Allah is true. But most of them know not. 13
