The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ What are they questioning each other about? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but in time they will come to understand [it]! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We have made your sleep [a symbol of] death 9 and the night as a cover, 10 and the day as time for you to make a living? 11 And We have built above you seven strong (heavens), 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 From the rain clouds We send waters pouring down in abundance, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely, the Day of Judgement has an appointed time. 17 the Day when the Trumpet shall be blown, and you will come forth in multitudes; 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Truly Hell is as a place of ambush, 21 a home for the transgressors, 22 Living therein for ages. 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 But boiling and intensely cold water, 25 , A fitting reward. 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement. 30
