۞ (And it is said unto the angels): Assemble those who did wrong, together with their wives and what they used to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 and detain them there; they will be called to account. 24 What aileth you that ye help not one another? 25 Nay, but this day they make full submission. 26 And they will advance toward each other mutually questioning. 27 They say: Lo! ye used to come unto us, imposing, (swearing that ye spoke the truth). 28 Those say, 'No; on the contrary, you were not believers; 29 We had no authority over you, but you were an insolent nation. 30 Thus, the words of Our Lord about us have come true and now we are suffering the torment. 31 So then, [if it be true that] we have caused you to err grievously - behold, we ourselves had been lost in grievous error!" 32 So verily on that Day they all in the torment will be sharers. 33 Verily that is how We shall deal with Sinners. 34 Verily when it was said unto them: there is no god but Allah, they ever grew stiff-necked. 35 And they said: are we going to abandon our gods on account of a poet distracted? 36 Rather, the Prophet has come with the truth and confirmed the [previous] messengers. 37 Lo! (now) verily ye taste the painful doom - 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 Except the chosen creatures of God, 40 For them is a Sustenance determined, 41 fruits -- and they high-honoured 42 In Gardens of peace. 43 Facing each other on Thrones (of Dignity): 44 Round will be passed to them a Cup from a clear-flowing fountain, 45 White, delicious for the drinkers. 46 Neither they will have Ghoul (any kind of hurt, abdominal pain, headache, a sin, etc.) from that, nor will they suffer intoxication therefrom. 47 And with them are those of modest gaze, with lovely eyes, 48 who are as chaste as sheltered eggs. 49 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 50 One of them will say, "I had a companion who asked me, 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 Can we, when we are dead and have become mere dust and bones - can we (then) verily be brought to book? 53 He saith: Will ye look? 54 Then he will look downwards, and will see him in the depths of Hell. 55 'By Allah' he will say, 'you almost destroyed me! 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 (Another will say:)"Is it true, we are not going to die 58 and that we would not be punished?" 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 for the like of this let the workers work.' 61 Is this a better hospitality or the tree of AzZakkum! 62 For We have truly made it (as) a trial for the wrong-doers. 63 (Zaqqum) is a tree which grows from the deepest part of hell, 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 (The people of Hell) will surely eat of it, filling their bellies with it. 66 then on top of it they have a brew of boiling water, 67 then their return is unto Hell. 68 These are the ones who found their fathers steeped in error, 69 So they in their footsteps are rushing. 70 Most of the ancient people had also gone astray. 71 and We had sent among them Messengers to warn them. 72 Then look how was the end of those who were warned - 73 except for God's sincere servants. 74
