He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or he might be mindful and good counsel might avail him. 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 To him you attend; 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 and who has fear of God, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honoured leaves 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 noble and purified. 16 Cursed be man! how ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens, dense with many trees, 30 and fruits, and pastures, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And many a face will be covered with dust on that day. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
