The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ When the Event inevitable cometh to pass, 1 There is, at its occurrence, no denial. 2 Degrading (some) and exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken up convulsively, 4 and the mountains will crumble 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 and you shall be three bands -- 7 So those on the Right Hand (i.e. those who will be given their Records in their right hands), Who will be those on the Right Hand? (As a respect for them, because they will enter Paradise). 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 And the Outstrippers, the Outstrippers 10 It is they who are the close ones. 11 In the Gardens of Pleasure, 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of the later peoples, 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 Reclining thereon facing each other. 16 immortal youths shall go about them 17 With goblets and ewers and a cup of pure drink; 18 No headache will they have therefrom, nor will they be intoxicated - 19 And fruit of what they select 20 and any flesh of fowl that they desire. 21 And [for them are] fair women with large, [beautiful] eyes, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 No Laghw (dirty, false, evil vain talk) will they hear therein, nor any sinful speech (like backbiting, etc.). 25 Only a saying: "Peace, peace." 26 The Companions of the Right Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Right Hand? 27 Amid thornless lote-trees, 28 and banana trees, 29 and spreading shade 30 and waters gushing, 31 And fruit in plenty 32 undiminished and never denied 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 and shall have made them virgins, 36 loving companions, matching in age, 37 For the companions of the right [who are] 38
