The Amramites (Al-Imraan)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
Alif-Laam-Meem. (Alphabets of the Arabic language; Allah and to whomever He reveals, know their precise meanings.) 1 Allah! La ilaha illa Huwa (none has the right to be worshipped but He), the Ever Living, the One Who sustains and protects all that exists. 2 It is He Who sent down to thee (step by step), in truth, the Book, confirming what went before it; and He sent down the Law (of Moses) and the Gospel (of Jesus) before this, as a guide to mankind, and He sent down the criterion (of judgment between right and wrong). 3 Then those who reject Faith in the Signs of Allah will suffer the severest penalty, and Allah is Exalted in Might, Lord of Retribution. 4 From Allah, verily nothing is hidden on earth or in the heavens. 5 He it is Who shapes you in the wombs as He pleases. There is no god but He, the Exalted in Might, the Wise. 6 It is He who sent down upon thee the Book, wherein are verses clear that are the Essence of the Book, and others ambiguous. As for those in whose hearts is swerving, they follow the ambiguous part, desiring dissension, and desiring its interpretation; and none knows its interpretation, save only God. And those firmly rooted in knowledge say, 'We believe in it; all is from our Lord'; yet none remembers, but men possessed of minds. 7 Our Lord! suffer not our hearts to deviate after that Thou hast guided us, and bestow on us from Thine presence mercy. Verily Thou! Thou art the Bestower! 8 Our Lord, surely You will gather the people for a Day about which there is no doubt. Indeed, Allah does not fail in His promise." 9
