Noah (Nooh)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WE SENT NOAH to his people to warn them before the painful punishment came upon them. 1 Noah said: “My people, I have certainly been sent as a clear warner to you, 2 That you should serve Allah and be careful of (your duty to) Him and obey me: 3 “He will forgive you some of your sins, and give you respite up to an appointed term; indeed the promise of Allah cannot be averted when it arrives; if only you knew.” 4 He said: my Lord! Verily I have called my people night and day. 5 “So for them, my calling them increased their fleeing away.” 6 Each time I called them so that You might forgive them, they thrust their fingers in their ears and wrapped themselves in their garments, and persisted becoming very proud. 7 "Then verily, I called to them openly (aloud); 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 "Saying, 'Ask forgiveness from your Lord; for He is Oft-Forgiving; 10 He will send [rain from] the sky upon you in [continuing] showers 11 and will aid you with worldly goods and children, and will bestow upon you gardens, and bestow upon you running waters. 12 "'What is the matter with you, that ye place not your hope for kindness and long-suffering in Allah,- 13 He has created you by stages! 14 Behold ye not in what wise Allah hath created seven heavens in storeys. 15 setting in them the moon as a light and the sun as a lantern? 16 And Allah has made you grow out of the earth as a growth: 17 ‘And He will then take you back to it, and again remove you from it.” 18 ‘And it is Allah Who made the earth a bed for you.’ 19 That of it ye may traverse the ways open. 20
