The Galaxies (Al-Burooj)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the heaven, holding the big stars. 1 by the promised day, 2 And by the witnessing day (i.e. Friday), and by the witnessed day [i.e. the day of 'Arafat (Hajj) the ninth of Dhul-Hijjah]; 3 Perish the fellows of the ditch, 4 [Containing] the fire full of fuel, 5 while they sat around it, 6 and they were witnesses of what they did to the believers 7 They had nothing against them, except that they believed in Allah, the All-Mighty, Worthy of all Praise! 8 to Whom belongs the dominion of the heavens and the earth. Allah witnesses everything. 9 Surely (as for) those who persecute the believing men and the believing women, then do not repent, they shall have the chastisement of hell, and they shall have the chastisement of burning. 10 Those who believe, and do righteous deeds, for them await gardens underneath which rivers flow; that is the great triumph. 11 Indeed the seizure of your Lord is very severe. 12 Surely it is He who originates, and brings again, 13 And He is the Oft-Forgiving, Full of Loving-Kindness, 14 the Owner of the Throne, the Glorious One, 15 Doer of whatsoever He intendeth. 16 Has the story of the armies reached you, 17 of Pharaoh and of Thamood? 18 Yet those who deny the truth persist in denial. 19 although Allah surrounds them. 20 Nay, but this [divine writ which they reject] is a discourse sublime, 21 written on a preserved Tablet. 22
