The Moon (Al-Qamar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
THE HOUR HAS come and split is the moon. 1 And if they see a miracle they turn aside and say: Transient magic. 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 there has come to them many a tiding wherein there are warnings, 4 Consummate wisdom-- but warnings do not avail; 5 Therefore turn away from them; on the day when the announcer will call towards a severe unknown matter – 6 their eyes will be humbled as they come out from their graves as if they were scattered locusts, 7 Hastening to the inviter. The unbelievers shall say: This is a hard day. 8 ۞ The people of Noah denied [the truth] before them. They belied Our messenger saying, "He is mad!" He was rebuffed, 9 He therefore prayed to his Lord, “I am overpowered, therefore avenge me.” 10 So We opened the gates of the sky with water pouring down in torrents, 11 And We made water to flow forth in the land in springs, so the water gathered together according to a measure already ordained. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And assuredly We left it for a sign. Is there then anyone who would be admonished? 15 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 16 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 17 The 'Ad had also disavowed. How was then My punishment and My commination! 18 Behold, We let loose upon them a raging storm wind on a day of bitter misfortune: 19 Sweeping men away as though they were uprooted trunks of palm-trees. 20 Then see how (dreadful) was My punishment after My warnings! 21 And certainly We have made the Quran easy for remembrance, but is there anyone who will mind? 22
