The people of al-Hijr also rejected Our messengers: 80 And We gave them Our signs, but from them they were turning away. 81 They carved out dwellings in the mountains, and lived in security -- 82 But the (mighty) Blast seized them of a morning, 83 that they earned did not avail them. 84 We did not create the heavens and the earth, and what is between them except in truth. The Hour is sure to come, therefore, forgive them with a gracious pardon. 85 Surely your Lord is the All Knowing Creator! 86 And We have certainly given you, [O Muhammad], seven of the often repeated [verses] and the great Qur'an. 87 Strain not thine eyes toward that which We cause some wedded pairs among them to enjoin, and be not grieved on their account, and lower thy wing (in tenderness) for the believers. 88 and clearly tell the unbelievers: "I am most certainly a plain warner," 89 (We have given you the Quran) as We had given (the Bible) to those who divided themselves into groups 90 who have broken the Koran into fragments. 91 By the Lord, We will hold them all responsible 92 About their deeds. 93 (O Prophet), proclaim what you are commanded, and pay no heed to those who associate others with Allah in His Divinity. 94 Truly! We will suffice you against the scoffers. 95 Who set up along with Allah another ilah (god), they will come to know. 96 Indeed, We know that your breast is straitened at what they say. 97 But you should glorify your Lord with praises, and be among those who bow in submission; 98 And worship thy Lord until there cometh unto thee the certainty. 99
