So when the envoys came to the household of Lot, 61 he said, 'Surely you are a people unknown to me!' 62 They replied, "We have come to you about the matter which the (unbelievers) have rejected. 63 and we have come to you with the truth, and surely we are truthful, 64 Depart with your family in a part of the night and walk behind them and let none of you turn round. Go to a place where you are commanded' 65 And We conveyed to him [the decree] of that matter: that those [sinners] would be eliminated by early morning. 66 In the meantime the people of the city came to Lot rejoicing. 67 and he told them, "These are my guests, so do not disgrace me. 68 but be conscious of God and disgrace me not!" 69 They said, “Had we not forbidden you from meddling in the affairs of anyone?” 70 He said: 'Here are my daughters; take them (in marriage), if you would be doing' 71 By thy life, in their intoxication they were wandering bewildered. 72 So As-Saihah (torment - awful cry, etc.) overtook them at the time of sunrise; 73 And We made the highest part [of the city] its lowest and rained upon them stones of hard clay. 74 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the prudent ones. 75 This (city) lies on a road that still survives. 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 And indeed the Dwellers of the Woods were unjust. 78 So We chastised them. The desolate locations of both communities lie on a well-known highway. 79
