۞ When (Jesus) the son of Mary is held up as an example, behold, thy people raise a clamour thereat (in ridicule)! 57 saying, "Are our gods better or him?" -- they cite him only to challenge you: they are a contentious people -- 58 but he was only a servant We favoured and made an example for the Children of Israel: 59 If We pleased We could have put angels in place of you as trustees on the earth. 60 He is a sign of the Hour. Have no doubt about it. But follow me. This is a straight path; 61 and do not let satan prevent you, for he is your clear enemy. 62 And when Isa came with clear arguments he said: I have come to you indeed with wisdom, and that I may make clear to you part of what you differ in; so be careful of (your duty to) Allah and obey me: 63 For God, He is my Lord and your Lord: so worship Him: that is a straight path." 64 But the sects from among themselves differed. So woe to those who do wrong (by ascribing things to 'Iesa (Jesus) that are not true) from the torment of a painful Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)! 65 Are they waiting except for the Hour to come upon them suddenly while they perceive not? 66 The friends shall on that day be enemies one to another, except those who guard (against evil). 67
