The Moon (Al-Qamar)
55 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Comet (Al-Taareq) before S (Saad)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
The Hour has come near, and the moon has split [in two]. 1 But if they see a sign they turn away, and say: "This is the same old lie continuing," 2 They belied (the Verses of Allah, this Quran), and followed their own lusts. And every matter will be settled [according to the kind of deeds (for the doer of good deeds, his deeds will take him to Paradise, and similarly evil deeds will take their doers to Hell)]. 3 Messages deterring them from evil had come to them, 4 profound in wisdom, but all warnings have been of no avail: 5 So turn (your) back on them (for) the day when the inviter shall invite them to a hard task, 6 abasing their eyes, they shall come forth from the tombs as if they were scattered grasshoppers, 7 These disbelievers will say, "This is a hard day". 8 ۞ Before them the people of Nuh rejected, so they rejected Our servant and called (him) mad, and he was driven away. 9 Therefore he called upon his Lord: I am overcome, come Thou then to help. 10 Then opened We the gates of heaven with pouring water 11 and We made the earth burst forth with springs, and all this water converged to fulfil that which had been decreed. 12 But We bore him on a (vessel made) of planks and oakum, 13 Sailing under Our observation as reward for he who had been denied. 14 And We left it as a sign so is there one who would ponder? 15 And how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 16 We have made the Quran easy to understand, but is there anyone who would pay attention? 17 'Aad denied; and how [severe] were My punishment and warning. 18 We sent a raging wind against them on a day of continuous calamity. 19 it swept the people away as though they were palm-trunks uprooted: 20 How (great) was then My punishment and My warning! 21 Easy have We made the Qur'an to understand: So is there any one who will pay heed? 22
